PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers' Cam Heyward and his wife have welcomed a son into the world, the defensive lineman announced Saturday on Twitter.
Earlier this week, Heyward told Channel 11 Sports Director Alby Oxenreiter that he was prepared to choose family over football this weekend if his wife, Allie, gave birth on gameday.

"I don't think there's a decision to be made," Heyward said. "If the baby is on his way on Sunday, I'll be there. Hopefully it comes before or after."
Fortunately for Steelers Nation, Heyward's son arrived ahead of Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders.
"Looks like the lil man gave me the ok to play this week," Heyward tweeted Saturday along with a photo of his newborn son.
