PITTSBURGH — The FBI is assisting Pittsburgh police to investigate explosions in two different neighborhoods Sunday evening.
The first one happened just after 9 p.m. in Lawrenceville in the 3600 block of Penn Avenue.
Police said there is a surveillance video that shows an incendiary device being thrown out of a white pickup truck before it exploded.
No one was injured, but a parked car was damaged. Police don’t believe there is any threat to residents nearby.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., there was another report of an explosion in the 200 block of Dinwiddie Street in the Hill District.
Homeowners called 911, saying they could feel their houses shaking and could smell an odor in the air.
Police said this incident is now believed to have been caused by an aerial firework. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Investigators don’t believe the two incidents are related.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Police Headquarters at 412-323-7800 or 911.
