3 arrested after protests, vandalism of Pittsburgh City-County Building

PITTSBURGH — Three people were arrested amid protests Wednesday in Pittsburgh during which the City-County Building was vandalized.

Michael Frank, 33, is accused of spray painting a red hammer and sickle onto the building on Grant Street. He had a can of red spray paint when he was arrested.

Caleb Seaman, 24, and James Page, 26, were also arrested for their involvement in vandalism, which included throwing construction signs, cones and trash cans onto downtown streets.

There were several groups protesting Wednesday in the city. Some people broke off from them and became destructive.

Channel 11′s Ryan Houston reported seeing an American flag being set on fire.

A crowd gathered outside the City-County Building holding signs and chanting. People started gathering on the sidewalk around 4 p.m. and the group steadily grew in size.

Demonstrators said the president was picked by the people and that’s the way the process should stay. They said no one should be allowed to undermine the electoral process.

“We just felt like we needed to be out here to make sure that every single vote counts,” said Jennifer Kennedy.

Another separate demonstration began a short time later, arguing that even if the Democrats win the White House, there’s not enough support to stop the effects of President Donald Trump’s time in office.
