Butler County sheriff deputies deliver mail-in ballots to voters

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — The Sheriff gave Channel 11 all-access to his deputies as they drove around Butler County delivering mail-in ballots.

“This is the first time we’ve ever done this,” said Sheriff Mike Slupe.

Two deputies teamed up with ballots in hand and for the past three days, they’ve been driving all over the county. They’ve delivered dozens of mail-in ballots to people who hadn’t received them yet. The first stop Friday was the Chicora Medical Center in the northern part of the county.

“The commissioners asked us if we would help out with the mail-in ballots up in the air. That’s what we’re doing,” Slupe said.

Channel 11 reported several days ago that Butler County was having problems with ballots and was working with the post office to find out where hundreds, possibly thousands, of them went. With the clock ticking, commissioners pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone who wants to vote gets the chance.

“We’ve been busy for the past couple of days just trying to get out and make sure every vote counts,” said sheriff deputy Eric McLafferty.

Friday was the final day deputies were delivering ballots.
