City of Pittsburgh proclaims March 4 as ‘Aaron Donald Day’

PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh is honoring a Western Pennsylvania native and University of Pittsburgh graduate who is now an NFL star.

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey officially proclaimed March 4 as “Aaron Donald Day.”

Donald won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams last month, but the city is recognizing Donald for more than just his on-field accomplishments.

He started AD99 Solutions, a foundation that provides athletic and academic opportunities to underserved children in Pittsburgh – and something very close to his heart.

“This is just bigger than what I ever thought could happen. It started with football, but football blessed me with being able to do so much more and motivate so many others. So to be here now, receiving this in my city? In my city, man. It’s crazy,” Donald said.

Channel 11′s Jenna Harner sat down with AD99 executive director and Donald’s sister Akita while she was in Los Angeles covering the Super Bowl. You can read that story here.
