Aaron Donald’s AD99 Solutions mission making a difference in Pittsburgh area

LOS ANGELES — It’s no secret that on the football field, Penn Hills, Pitt & Los Angeles Ram Aaron Donald can impact a game in one play. But through his foundation, AD99 Solutions, the star defensive tackle makes waves of impact on the Pittsburgh community.

Donald’s sister, Akita Donald, sat down in an exclusive with Channel 11′s Jenna Harner in Los Angeles to talk more about the mission of her brother’s foundation and their passion to make a difference.

“It’s about leaving your imprint behind, where it becomes bigger than Aaron, it becomes bigger than a brand. It’s really to improve the quality of lives,” Akita Donald said.

Akita Donald is the Executive Director of her brother’s foundation. She added AD99 Solutions is all about family.

“So family is everything. That’s how we were raised. And we really wanted to have that reflective and a foundation. That’s why we really aim to not only just empower the youth, but also those within that circle,” Akita said.

Through youth camps, community programs and their Prep Forward Program, the foundation focuses on providing resources and opportunities to disenfranchised youth in the Pittsburgh area.

About the children helped by the foundation, Akita said, “It’s really impactful and beautiful when you see small things. When you see them being more confident, being more verbal and just having a better understanding of the world.”

When Akita looks at her brother and sees all he has done on the field, and the way he’s giving back, she can’t stop beaming with pride.

“It’s been beautiful to watch him professionally, as well as personally. See him evolving personally and seeing it professionally. You see he’s more vocal and verbal, and you see it with the impact that he’s making with the foundation. So, everybody’s winning,” Akita said.
