East Carson Street to reopen to two-way traffic Friday

PITTSBURGH — East Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood will convert back to two-way traffic Friday between South 10th and South 18th streets in the evenings, Pittsburgh Public Safety announced.

In July, a pilot traffic project was launched to help reduce traffic, reduce violence, and improve pedestrian safety in the area on weekend evenings. As a result, positive improvements were made, Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said.

“No Parking” measures will still be enforced in this area of East Carson Street on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 8 p.m. Vehicles will be towed to keep the road clear for public safety vehicles to use.

Pittsburgh police increased the number of officers in the area and expanded enforcement in July. The increased police presence will remain.
