Channel 11's Renee Kaminski spoke to Yasha's father, Frank Ross, by phone Tuesday. He told her he's heartbroken that his daughter died so young.

“I didn’t get enough time with her,” he said. “I didn’t get enough time. It wasn’t enough. That was my world. That was the rest of my happiness right there.”

Pittsburgh police have not released much information on the case, but the girl’s family told Channel 11 that Yasha slipped away unnoticed and found a gun in an upstairs bedroom of the home.

“There was a safe with a gun,” Frank Ross said. “That’s what I heard. The gun belonged to the guy in the house.”

According to the medical examiner, Yasha died of a gunshot wound to the stomach. Police have not released the name of the gun owner and no charges have been filed.

“Someone should be charged because this is a little girl’s life,” Frank Ross said. “It shouldn’t have happened. Charging someone won’t bring her back, but at the same time, this shouldn’t have happened."

Frank Ross is living in Philadelphia after being partially paralyzed in a shooting in October in Moon Township. His side of the family set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for Yasha Ross' funeral.
