Police searching for driver, SUV after hit-and-run critically hurt man in Shadyside

PITTSBURGH — A man was critically hurt when he was hit by an SUV that then took off early Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, police said.

The man was hit just before 12:30 a.m. on South Aiken Avenue at Walnut Street.

Police received 911 calls alerting them to the hit-and-run, which left the man unresponsive and bleeding from the head, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver who left the scene has not been found. The SUV they were driving is a dark colored 2019 Honda HR-V with Pennsylvania license plate LDH-2686. Police said the SUV has windshield damage.
