PITTSBURGH — Want to make a little extra cash this holiday season? Here are the companies in the Pittsburgh area that are hiring.

UPS

UPS announced that it will continue to hire hundreds of seasonal employees in the Pittsburgh area in its annual ‘UPS Brown Friday’ event Thursday through Saturday.

Across the country, UPS plans to hire more than 60,000 seasonal employees during this three-day hiring blitz.

The company is filling full- and part-time seasonal positions — primarily package handlers, drivers, driver helpers and personal vehicle drivers to support the anticipated annual increase in package volume over the holiday season that will begin in October and continue through January 2022.

UPS has reimagined its approach to holiday hiring, presenting job offers to qualified candidates in 30 minutes or less. Seasonal positions have long been entry points for permanent employment at UPS. Over the last three years, about one-third of people hired by UPS for seasonal jobs were later hired in a permanent position.

UPS is offering current employees $200 for every eligible employee referral they submit. A list of local hiring events, as well as information about the company’s virtual hiring information sessions, is available here. Those who are unable to attend a hiring fair can still apply easily online, at UPSjobs.com.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is hiring permanent and part-time seasonal job opportunities at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores across Pennsylvania.

In addition to the permanent store clerk positions available, the PLCB needs part-time help between early November and early January 2022. Seasonal positions pay $13.50 an hour. While evening and weekend help is most sought, there are no minimum hour requirements. FW&GS seasonal positions offer the opportunity for employees to move to regular part-time work after the season ends. For those not seeking regular part-time work, seasonal employees can be called back during other seasonal opportunities, like in the summer and in subsequent holiday seasons.
