Investigation expanding after disappearance of woman, 70, last seen at church

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Allegheny County police detectives are now involved in the investigation into the disappearance of a Shaler Township woman who was last seen at church on Jan. 19, authorities said Tuesday.

Janet Walsh, 70, was reported missing about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 20. Shaler Township police initiated an investigation and have been unable to locate her.

Walsh’s daughter told police she was supposed to meet her mother for dinner on Jan. 20, but she was not at her home on Dolores Drive and did not contact her.

Walsh’s son-in-law, Nathan Duke, told Channel 11 News he and his wife had lunch with Walsh on Jan. 19. When they returned to her home on Jan. 20, she was gone, and they spent hours trying to get in contact with her.

Duke said Walsh didn’t seem to be in any sort of distress. Her husband died a few months ago, but she was in better spirits and was getting ready to start volunteer work.

“We just want her to know we want to her to come home. We hope she’s OK. We just want to see her again,” Duke said.

Walsh is described as white and 5 feet, 3 inches tall with blond hair and hazel eyes. She does not have any known health issues.

Detectives are also looking for Walsh’s vehicle, a silver 2018 Chevrolet Trax with Pennsylvania license plate number KTW-6007.
