Man says raccoon attacked his face while he worked on his car

ARNOLD, Pa. — A man told us he was working on his car in Westmoreland County when a raccoon came up and attacked his face.

Dan Waldenville, of Arnold, says the raccoon was snarling and had white stuff around his mouth.

He pushed it off him, but the raccoon came back again, so he grabbed his hammer.

TRENDING NOW:

“It started charging. I hit it once over the head, leaned against the fence (and) hit (it) two more times,” Waldenville said.

His biggest concern was that the raccoon would attack some of the kids in the neighborhood.

That's why he wanted to make sure it didn't get away.

The raccoon's body will be tested for rabies.

Waldenville had to have eight rabies shots Monday night, and will have at least three more shots in the next few weeks as a precaution.
