Men arrested on roof of Pittsburgh apartment building say they practice parkour

PITTSBURGH — Two men were arrested Sunday afternoon after police found them on the roof of an apartment in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood.

Officers found Richard Sukora, 19, and Tarik Askar-Smith, 18, wearing gloves and covering their faces while on top of the Brownsville Road building, which has a day care on the first floor.

A woman who lives in the building called police about 4 p.m. after hearing banging that was “so intense she could feel the building shake,” court documents said.

Investigators said Sukora and Askar-Smith told them they got onto the roof by shimmying up the back of a neighboring auto shop. Askar-Smith said they practice the sport of parkour and often climb buildings.

Both men are charged with trespassing.
