Thomas told Lewis that she doesn't know why her son was killed. She called for peace, not only for her family but for all those who have lost someone to senseless violence.
"I cannot describe the pain I am going through," Thomas said. "You don't know a mom's pain."
She said it's time for kids to put down the guns and for parents, police and neighborhoods to come together. To the person who killed her son, she said, "I just want you to know I will pray for your mom, because your mom will need prayer."
Police are still investigating the killing but no arrests had been made as of Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
