PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A Glassport police officer was off-duty and driving the wrong way down a one-way street when he was pulled over by Pittsburgh Police in April, according to court documents obtained Thursday.

Tyler Kowall, 27, of McKeesport, was driving on 15th Street in the South Side on April 11 in the wrong direction when police spotted him.

Once pulled over, police said Kowall smelled heavily of alcohol, immediately identified himself as a Glassport Police officer and said he had been drinking beer at a Pirates baseball game earlier in the day.

Police also spotted a half-empty bottle of hard seltzer in the car.

Kowall was charged with DUI and traffic offenses and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for September.
