Pickup truck crashes into Penn Hills house after swerving down road

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A Penn Hills home is now boarded up after a pickup truck crashed through it early Thursday afternoon.

A witness told Channel 11’s Gabriella DeLuca that he saw the pickup truck swerving down Rose Avenue and almost flip over before crashing into the home.

With the help of firefighters, the homeowners salvaged all they could from what’s left of their house. The couple was out celebrating their wedding anniversary at the time.

"My neighbor called and said, 'Come home, a truck just ran into your home,'" Annette Devinney said. "We started home and it was an hour 50 minutes home. We rushed home -- by the time we got here, everybody knew."

An officer on the scene said the people inside the truck had minor injuries.

Devinney said on social meda the home will need to be demolished soon.

"If I were home, if I were sitting, that's where I would be," she said.

The driver told Channel 11 he lost his brakes and hit the house. He and two other people in the truck are OK.

"Lost my brakes going down the hill," said Aaron Tyler. "Thank God no one was hurt, nobody was injured."
