PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh police officer responding to a noise complaint for kids playing loudly in the street last weekend ended up buying them a basketball.
According to a social media post, Officer Flynn responded to the call and, instead of issuing a citation, he stopped and talked to the group of kids. They told him they liked to play basketball but didn’t own a ball themselves.

Flynn left the scene, bought a basketball and returned to surprise them so they could play at the nearest court.
“I’m extremely proud of Officer Flynn and what he did to help kids in the community,” said Chief Scott Schubert. “He addressed a citizen complaint and left the kids with a wonderful memory that they’ll undoubtedly remember for the rest of their lives. That’s relational policing!”
