Pittsburgh restoring 100+ jobs for electricians, plumbers, truck drivers

PITTSBURGH — When COVID-19 hit, Pittsburgh jobs felt the impact.

“Our staff and our employees were doing more work with less people,” said Molly Onufer, communications director for Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.

The city froze job openings to avoid layoffs, but that situation is changing.

“With the funding we got to restore city jobs from the American Rescue Plan,” Onufer said. “We’ll be hiring recreation leaders for our rec centers. Crossing guards which we have high need for throughout the city. Code inspectors. Some trade people electricians brick layers.”

The pay is good, and so are the benefits, Onufer said.

“I don’t think that there is just one position that is the most important, all of the jobs are important,” she added.

All of those positions are posted HERE.
