PITTSBURGH — Police units rushed to a reported shooting scene in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, officers are investigating the shooting in the 7100 block of Frankstown Avenue. They were originally called out shortly after 6:15 p.m. to the 1000 block of Lawndale Street. While en route, officers were notified of a gunshot victim on Frankstown Avenue.

The victim, a 6-year-old girl, was found in an SUV and had been shot in the stomach. Officers rendered first aid until medics arrived on scene.

She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Community activist Steve Price was there the moment the driver of the SUV pulled onto Frankstown Avenue.
