Stabbing, shots fired incidents hours apart lead to charges for Pittsburgh couple

Lakewood Street Stabbing Pittsburgh police respond to a stabbing along Lakewood Street in the city's Elliott neighborhood early Friday, Nov. 6, 2026.

PITTSBURGH — Stabbing and shots-fired incidents just hours apart led to charges for a Pittsburgh couple.

Police went to the 1100 block of Lakewood Street in Elliott around 11:15 p.m. Thursday for a one-round gunfire detection alert.

Court records obtained by Channel 11 show officers arrived to find Andre Reese, 32, walking down the steps of an apartment building.

Officers detained Reese and found a handgun, as well as an apparent bullet hole, in his front hoodie pocket.

Reese wasn’t injured, but appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, police say.

Investigators found a bullet hole in a nearby apartment. A bullet reportedly went through two doors and a set of steps before hitting a wall in the same room where someone was sleeping.

Reese allegedly told officers that the gun went off in his pocket by accident.

He was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. A judge denied him bail.

Just after 1 a.m. Friday, police were sent back to the apartment for reports of someone who’d been stabbed.

Officers found a woman who’d been stabbed in the armpit and abdomen. Medics took her to the hospital, where she was said to be stable.

The victim told police that Reese’s girlfriend — identified as Shaye Elizabeth Gaetano, 30 — showed up outside the apartment and stabbed the woman during a fight before leaving in a vehicle.

Police issued a warrant for Gaetano, though online court records show she was arrested Friday and denied bail.

Reese is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person, while Gaetano is charged with aggravated assault, possessing instruments of crime and simple assault.
