Road shut down as house goes up in flames in McCandless

MCCANDLESS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Perry Highway/State Route 19 was completely shut down for a time Sunday due to a house fire.

According to county officials, the 10,000 block of the highway was closed so crews could fight the flames in McCandless Township. This is in the area of the Firestone Complete Auto Care.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area.

There’s no word yet on what sparked the fire. Temperatures were near 90 degrees late Sunday afternoon.
