PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Health Department has reported a third human case of West Nile Virus this year.
A woman in her mid-50s who lives in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood was hospitalized in mid-September.
She is now recovering at home.
Health Department officials urge people to protect themselves from mosquitoes by:
- getting rid of standing water in yards and neighborhoods
- making sure that open window and doors have screens
- using insect repellent on exposed skin
- minimizing time spent outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active
