Three people charged in connection with 2019 Wilkinsburg homicide

Pittsburgh — Allegheny County Police on Friday arrested two people and are searching for a third in connection with a shooting that killed one person and injured two others.

Herbert Lee Walker III, 24 and Kenya Harper, 25, were taken into custody and are in the Allegheny County Jail. Police are still searching for Jeremiah Ligon, 22, who is known to frequent Penn Hills and Wilkinsburg.

Police said the arrests were a part of a joint investigation between the Allegheny County Police, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Wilkinsburg Police and the Pittsburgh Police.

On Oct. 20, 2019 police found Mager Rainey, 22, shot to death in the 500 block of Jeanette Street in Wilkinsburg. Two women, ages 21 and 25, were also shot and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the three victims had gotten into a car when multiple shots were fired into the vehicle. The driver sped down Jeannette Street, crashing into multiple parked vehicles and a building before coming to rest in a yard along Rebecca Avenue.

Police didn’t release a motive for the shooting.
