Two dogs killed, one person in critical condition after fire on Pittsburgh’s South Side

PITTSBURGH — One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition and two dogs were killed in a fire that occurred on Pittsburgh’s South Side early Saturday morning.

The fire was reported at an apartment above Dunbar’s Place in the 1100 block of East Carson Street around 5:20 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the second floor. During a search, they found a man inside. He was rescued from the building and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Two dogs were found deceased inside.

There were no other injuries or fire damage to adjacent buildings.

The Fire Investigation Unit will investigate to determine the cause.
