Cars keyed, windows smashed and nails hidden under tires in Washington Co.

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — Cars keyed, windows smashed and nails hidden under tires -- all of this vandalism happened along Daisytown’s Main Street in Washington County.

The couple who live there told Channel 11′s Cara Sapida their cars have been vandalized repeatedly and they live in fear.

When our Channel 11 crews got there, they found huge nails scattered all about. The couple said they don’t want their children being the ones finding them or stepping on them.

Tabitha Ziglear and her boyfriend, Anthony Nakutis, are offering a $300 reward for information on who has been vandalizing their cars.

“Maybe three days later my car was vandalized again. Looks like they took a crow bar and just started smashing it,” Ziglear said.

Ziglear and Nakutis said they have to check for nails and glass every time their three children, all under 5 years old, play outside.

“We have to check for nails and check for glass. If we want to go to the grocery store, we have to walk all around our car, check our brake lines,” Nakutis said.

“We are scared here. We need our babies safe. We have little ones and we just want a safe environment for us and our children,” Ziglear said.

State police Belle Vernon barracks are investigating the incidents. They told Channel 11 there have been three separate incidents but none of them were caught on camera.

Ziglear said her 5-year-old had an idea on how to stop the vandals.

“She said we should just kill them with kindness and that’s coming from a sweet little baby,” Ziglear said.
