MCCLELLANDTOWN, Pa. — A woman is facing charges after driving away from a traffic stop and crashing into a home.
Police tried to pull over Nicole Burkes at Route 21 and Puritan Road in McClellandtown on Tuesday. She was wanted for driving on a suspended license. Her license was suspended for driving under the influence.
Emily Eicher said she doesn’t usually see much activity near her house. That was not the case on Tuesday.

“I laid there a couple more minutes, and I said, ‘No, I definitely hear something,’ and I lifted up the blinds and see cop cars flying up the driveway,” Eicher said.
Burkes was fighting to get away from police after the minivan she was driving crashed into Eicher’s garage, which was knocked off its foundation by the impact.
“At first we thought it was my van into the garage, only to see this woman being carried out of our woods,” Eicher said.
When police tried to pull Burkes over, she told them she wasn’t going to jail and took off, almost hitting an officer. She drove about 2.5 miles down the road before crashing.
“They talked to us and told us she jumped out of the van while it was still moving and it ran into our garage, and they had to tackle her in the woods,” Eicher said.
