Woman killed in wrong-way crash on I-79 in Washington County

NORTH STRABANE TWP., Pa. — A woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 79 in North Strabane Township, Washington County, around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

The driver, Holly Ann Davis, 56, of Canonsburg, was heading north on I-79 when she was hit head-on by a wrong-way driver, identified as Kristina Rose Coyne, 26, from Washington, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Davis, who was the only person in her vehicle, suffered fatal injuries during the crash.

Just prior to the crash, Washington County 911 started receiving calls from drivers seeing a vehicle going the wrong direction, south in the northbound lanes.

Police say Coyne was flown to the hospital for treatment, and her condition is currently unknown. Police have not said if Coyne faces any charges.

I-79 was closed down for several hours while police investigated.
