Documents: Indiana town official drunk outside bar while her baby rolled away in stroller

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — An Indiana town official is accused of passing out outside a bar while her baby rolled down a sidewalk in her stroller, according to court documents.

Brandy Nicole Brewer, 39, of Jeffersonville, was charged with public intoxication and child neglect, according to a probable cause statement filed in Clark County, WLKY-TV reported.

She posted $5,000 bail on Tuesday, online court records show.

Brewer, who is a Jeffersonville Township board member, was at O’Shea’s Pub in Jeffersonville when the incident occurred on April 1, the News and Tribune of Jeffersonville reported.

A witness told police that he saw Brewer sitting at the bar ordering takeout food, the newspaper reported. The witness said he saw Brewer order a beer while waiting for her order, and she then began nursing an infant child, according to court documents.

Several moments later, the witness followed Brewer out of the bar and found her allegedly passed out while sitting on the ledge of the building’s north side, WLKY reported.

According to court documents, the child was in a stroller that was not locked, and the witness said the stroller began moving down the sidewalk, the News and Tribune reported.

The witness told police he confronted Brewer while his wife grabbed the child and took her inside the bar, according to the probable cause affidavit.

A police officer asked Brewer to take a preliminary breath test, and she agreed, the News and Tribune reported. The results came back at 0.275

The newspaper said it reached out to Brewer for comment but has not heard back from her.

Brewer is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, online records show.
