Donald Meshey Jr., 32, of Lancaster has been charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, WGAL reported

According to WPMT, the gruesome discovery was prompted by an 8:51 a.m. phone call for a welfare check after the caller said Meshey told her there was a body in one of the beds and a head in the freezer at his West Strawberry Street apartment.

The caller later told responding officers that she had just spoken with Meshey inside the residence and had seen what she believed to be the head of one of her family members in the freezer, the TV station reported.

Police said that when they spoke with Meshey, he escorted them to the kitchen and removed what appeared to be a human head from the freezer. The Lancaster County Coroner’s office later confirmed the head was human, WGAL reported.

According to police, Meshey told detectives that he had found what he described as a “cadaver doll” in his father’s bedroom which he claimed “looked and sounded like his father.” Meshey then confessed to stabbing the “cadaver doll” for several minutes before dismembering the body, WPMT reported.

Police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity, and the investigation remains active, WGAL reported.
