Suspected catalytic converter thief allegedly ran over partner with truck in Pennsylvania

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A suspected catalytic converter thief allegedly ran over his partner with a truck while trying to flee the area in Pennsylvania.

At around 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Pennsylvania State Police officials were sent to the 1300 block of Lutztown Road in Cumberland County for a reported pedestrian crash, according to WHP-TV.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they were told that two men had attempted to strip and steal a catalytic converter from a car at a man’s house, according to WHP-TV. The two suspects were reportedly attempting to steal the catalytic converter when the owner came out of the house and confronted them.

Both suspects tried to flee the area, which was when one of them allegedly ran over the other one with a pick-up truck, according to PennLive.

The injured suspected thief was identified as James Edward Snyder by police, according to PennLive. He was taken to the hospital. Pennsylvania State Police said that theft charges are expected.

The other suspected thief was gone from the area when troopers arrived at the scene, according to PennLive. He was identified as a middle-aged man wearing a black hat and gray sweatsuit, driving a mid-to-late 1990s burgundy Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
