Winner of $1.5B Powerball jackpot to claim prize in Florida

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Just over one month after the Multi-State Lottery Association announced winners in three states would split a record $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot, officials in Florida said its state winner would be announced.

The winner was expected to be announced during a press conference Wednesday, according to the Florida Lottery. The as-yet unidentified person learned of his or her prize during the Powerball drawing on Jan. 13.

The winning ticket is worth $520 million and was bought at the Publix in Melbourne Beach. The winner previously had not come forward publicly to claim the prize.

Powerball winners were also announced in Tennessee and California. The winners in Tennessee have already come forward to claim their prize.
