CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Steelers made the move that felt inevitable late Wednesday night, trading Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys.
But now, their attention turns toward a division rival on Thursday night football.
The Steelers are looking to go 2-0 in division play in Cleveland, where they haven’t won since 2021.
Both Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have had a lot of success on Thursday nights in their careers.
Mike McCarthy will try to do something that former head coach Mike Tomlin failed to do: Win a road division game on a short week.
McCarthy told us they began preparations for the browns last Friday, and really dove into the film the second they got back to the team facility Sunday after their win over the Bengals.
We talked a lot with players both Monday and Tuesday about the challenges of playing on a short week.
Cam Heyward told us there simply isn’t enough time to embrace the tape.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked about some of the limitations the offense faces playing on a Thursday night.
“Offensively, you have to make some concessions on things that might not be as crisp as you would like, and we have to find a way to make it work. I make no concessions when it comes to that. Zero concessions,” Rodgers said.
And the players are expecting quite the rowdy crowd from the Dawg Pound.
