Ones to Watch: David Taylor, wrestling

TOKYO — David Taylor is the reigning world wrestling champion at 86 kilograms and a two-time NCAA champion at Penn State University.

He won the U.S. trials by beating fellow Nittany Lion Bo Nickal.

“It’s something I’ve been training for all my life, and to accomplish that this year feels great, but the job’s not done,” Taylor said. “Olympian, that’s amazing, but my goal is to be a gold medalist. That’s all I wanted my whole life, that’s the expectation.”

Taylor says one blessing of the delay for the Tokyo Olympics is that his daughter is now 1 year old, and can therefore watch him compete.
