Patchy fog possible Monday morning ahead of wintry mix

Areas of snow will end overnight and we’ll keep a cloudy sky around as temperatures fall to the mid-20s. Patchy fog will be possible which could limit the visibility into Monday morning.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for the ridges of Westmoreland and Fayette counties from 2 p.m. Monday - 10 a.m. Tuesday. This could be upgraded to an Ice Storm Warning due to the threat of 0.25 inches of ice.

A wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow will develop by late afternoon and evening Monday. The precipitation will move in from the south. Cities near, north and east of Pittsburgh may need a Winter Weather Advisory where ice will be a threat. Travel could become hazardous so check the forecast before heading out.

This wintry mix will continue Monday night and into early Tuesday morning although the threat of ice should begin to shift to the I-80 corridor and ridges for the Tuesday morning commute.

Temperatures Monday afternoon will reach the mid-30s and fall to freezing by Tuesday morning.
