Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium to close starting Friday due to incoming winter storm

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium announced they will be closing due to the incoming winter storm.

The zoo will be closed Friday and Saturday. It will also be closed on Sunday for Christmas.

It will reopen to the public on Monday, Dec. 26.

In a release, a spokesperson for the zoo said, “The safety of our resident animals and guests is our top priority; animals will continue to receive daily care from Zoo staff. Each animal at the Zoo has a range of acceptable climates, and will remain in comfortable indoor habitats if they prefer warmer temperatures.”
