Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is back, and hotshot pilot Tom Cruise picks up where he left off more than 30 years ago.
The trailer for “Top Gun: Maverick” was released Monday morning, and the film, which opens June 26, 2020, reprises the 1986 blockbuster film. It features Cruise, now a captain, training a new group of Top Gun graduates for a special mission, Rolling Stone reported.
New recruits include Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, played by Miles Teller, who is the son of Maverick’s late friend, Lt. Nick “Goose” Bradshaw. The film also stars Val Kilmer -- who reprises his role as Iceman, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Glen Powell.

“I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting an invitation back,” Cruise says in the trailer.
“They’re called orders, Maverick,” is the response.
“Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it,” the synopsis for the film reads.
