2 Hurt In Gun Battle Outside Uniontown Bar

UNIONTOWN, Pa.,None — Authorities in Uniontown said a gun battle outside a bar that sent two people to the hospital apparently started over a missing jacket and money.

Police said the shooting started at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday outside Splash Bar.

A man and a woman in their 20s were flown by helicopter to local hospitals with gunshot injuries.

Officer Jennifer Field said the injuries did not appear life-threatening.

Investigators said they believe multiple people fired guns in the melee, and they are seeking one or two shooters who fled the scene.

Capt. David Rutter said the dispute started earlier in the bar and erupted into a fight outside, with gunfire wounding the victims and striking several cars and businesses.

A neighbor who lives near the bar said she woke up to the sound of gunshots.

"I took my kids and put them on the floor. Ya know, it's something that it could have went through a window," the woman said.

Neighbors said they are upset because often times, the bar stays open until 5 a.m.

"If they can keep the trouble out of there it wouldn't be so bad. But if they can't control what trouble comes in and out they need to make sure no trouble is coming out of there," a neighbor said. "They should close it down. Why should it be open if they are going to have something like that going on?"

So far, police have made no arrests.
