MCKEESPORT, Pa. — An abandoned house fire in McKeesport early Tuesday morning spread to nearby homes, forcing several residents out on the street.
Channel 11’s Dave Bondy reported that an alert neighbor noticed the flames and pounded on residents’ doors.
“I said, ‘Did anybody get the people out of the house next door?’ and she said, ‘No, we didn’t.’ So I ran over and pounded on the door and got them out of the house,” said neighbor Libby Sosearic.
Firefighters said the blaze began on the porch of an unoccupied home in the 2600 block of Cleveland Street.
Officials said the flames damaged two houses on each side of the abandoned home.
The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating what started the blaze.
