PITTSBURGH — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is holding its 84th annual regional conference in Pittsburgh.
The sorority teamed up with Wal-Mart to raise over 5,000 backpacks to donate children in the area.
“The children no longer have to worry about bookbags, pencils and glue sticks,” said Toni Kendrick, regional director of Alpha Kappa Alpha. “All they have to worry about is going to school, ready to learn.”
The Annual Great Lakes Regional Conference, representing Western PA, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, and Western New York will take place in Pittsburgh from April 9-12.
