PITTSBURGH — An East Hills man has been arrested in connection with a burglary attempt early Monday morning in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood.
Police said Harry Carter matched the description of a man who was reported to have tried to get into a home in the 6900 block of Claridge Place through a back door. The man fled when the victim yelled at him.
While officers were responding, they spotted Carter carrying a bag in the area of North Dallas Avenue and Bennett Street in Homewood. An officer tried to communicate with Carter, who discarded the bag and ran before he was taken into custody with the assistance of a K-9.
Officers recovered the bag that Carter was seen carrying and found two black leather gloves, a flashlight, a screwdriver and a crowbar inside it, according to police.
Carter, who police said repeatedly provided false information about his identity, was taken to West Penn Hospital for medical clearance. He was later taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Charges against Carter include criminal attempt, possessing instruments of crime, resisting arrest or other law enforcement, flight to avoid apprehension, loitering and prowling at night and providing false identification to law enforcement.
