ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — At least nine people found themselves in handcuffs Tuesday, bringing a 10-month-long drug investigation by the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team to a close.
One-by-one Channel 11’s cameras captured six of the suspects being taken into the magistrate’s office in Gibsonia to be arraigned on drug charges.
The DA’s Narcotics Enforcement Team teamed up with several police department in the North Hills to make the busts. In all, more than a dozen people are charged with selling drugs, with at least nine of them picked up Tuesday by investigators.
According to the criminal complaints obtained by Channel 11 News, most were caught selling drugs to undercover officers for $40 to $280.
The largest bust, however, was when police arrested Javay Bivins, who authorities say was caught with thousands of dollars’ worth of heroin.
According to Bivins’ criminal complaint, investigators “recovered a brown paper bag (labeled) ‘American Eagle’ from the glove box. From inside the brown paper bag, there appeared to be 12 bricks of heroin.”%
