SHALER, Pa. — Every school district has been trying to do what it can to make buildings safer and joining that fight is the Parent-Teacher Association in an Allegheny County school district.
The Shaler Area School District is launching a new program this year, one that was picked up last year by the Chartiers Valley School District.
The PTA is planning to put a Go Bucket in every classroom to help teachers be more prepared for an emergency.
To start, they'll only be in classrooms in Marzolf Primary School.

The 5-gallon buckets are filled with emergency supplies including first-aid kits, flashlights, blankets, rope and whistles.
“In addition to the safety measures put in place and the training our staff and students receive, the Go Buckets will provide teachers with one more tool in their toolbox in an emergency situation," said superintendent Sean Aiken.
Last year, parents in Chartiers Valley placed nearly 300 of the buckets in their classrooms.
