Pittsburgh to begin hosting global manufacturing summit in 2022

PITTSBURGH — On Tuesday during this year’s Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, it was announced that starting in 2022, a stateside version of the annual meeting of leaders, manufacturing experts and policy makers would take place in Pittsburgh.

The announcement of GMIS-America coming to Pittsburgh was made during a summit panel discussion moderated by Simin Yazdgerdi Curtis, the CEO and founder of the American Middle East Institute, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that has been working to bring the summit to the city.

“GMIS couldn’t have picked a more exciting host than Pittsburgh, a city that has reinvigorated its economy again and again with a unique brand of grit and innovation,” Curtis said. “I’m delighted that the bridge-building mission of AMEI has brought GMIS to our city.”
