The London-based MakieLab calls the new dolls "Makies". The dolls feature a whole range of options designed to encourage children with special needs to create a toy that looks like them. Dolls can be made with canes, glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs and birth marks-- among other options. MakieLab says so far the facial birthmark has been the most popular feature on the made-to-order dolls.
