Family looking for answers one year after woman's mysterious death

BRADDOCK, Pa. — A family is still looking for answers one year after a woman’s mysterious death.

“It’s hard,” said Mya Coppolelola. “I was a young age, but losing my grandma, I just never expected that to happen.”

The last time anyone saw Coppolelola’s grandmother, Ruth Mullennix, was in 2014 when she walked out of her Wilmerding apartment into the night in 2014.

“I don’t want to say someone knows something, but I’m never going to give up,” Coppolelola said.

Three weeks after Mullennix’ disappearance, her body was found in an isolated section of the Monongahela River in Braddock.

According to the medical examiner, Millennix drowned, but did not rule her drowning a suicide or an accident.

Mellennix’ purse and cell phone was found beneath Westinghouse Bridge, her prescription medicine was found in a random mailbox in Wilmerding.

Her family said she did have mental health issues, but insists she did not take her own life.

County police investigators told Channel 11 that they have no indication foul play was involved.
