Group wants satanic activity book in schools

OKLAHOMA CITY — A satanic group in Oklahoma City wants to put a satanic activity book in local schools.

The group says it’s only right, pointing to the local school district’s decision to allow a teacher to hand out Bibles to students.

“It would give children the opportunity to see that devil worship is not what everyone tells them it is,” self-proclaimed Satanist Adam Daniels said.

Daniels, who leads an Oklahoma City satanic church, said the floodgates for religion in school opened when a Duncan teacher offered Bibles to her students.

“If they’re going to allow a religious book from the Christian church, then they have to allow a book from us because we’re on the same playing field,” Daniels said.

In an email to the school district, Daniels wrote: “Please don’t fret, my book is nowhere near as graphic as the Christian Bible.”

“All of the negative aspects that you could even begin to imagine out of the human animal (are) in that holy Bible,” Daniels said.

Daniels said his satanic workbook sends a more appropriate message to children.

He said an excerpt from his nightly prayer reads, “I am unrepentant of all sins and I embrace them, all evil thoughts, evil words, and evil acts that I have thought.”

But Daniels’ church isn’t the only Satanist organization targeting children. An activity book produced by the Satanic Temple has a spot-the-differences page, a word jumble and even a connect-the-dots showing how to make an inverted pentagram.

“(It's) an awesome message to children and adults alike, because it shows them that they can be independently powerful and work evenly with an entity instead of being enslaved to it,” Daniels said.
