The iconic Kaufmann’s clock at Fifth Avenue and Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh has stopped ticking.
The clock outside the former Kaufmann's building stopped at 8:13. Macy’s sold the building last year.
City officials have reached out to the buyer, Philadelphia-based Core Realty, to let them know the clock has stopped.
Pittsburgh city councilman Corey O’Connor told Channel 11 News that Huntington Bank has offered to donate money to keep the clock running.
There was no immediate word on when the clock, which has stood since 1913, would be fixed.
Core Realty’s redevelopment plans include a hotel, condominiums and stores.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer.
