The father of a 20-day-old baby is accused of inflicting a head wound to the child.
According to Allegheny County police, Devin Yetsick, 21, of North Fayette Township, faces charges of aggravated assault of a child, endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.
According to a criminal complaint, the baby’s mother told police that Yetsick became angry because the baby wouldn’t stop crying. She also said she went to Choices Store for “cigarettes and pop” and that Yetsick felt she had been gone too long.
The mother then witnessed “Devin punch the child with a closed fist on the left side of the baby’s face,” according to the complaint.
The mother noticed the baby’s leg begin to twitch, but did not call 911 until the following day, according to the complaint.
Police said the boy was taken to the hospital Nov. 9 for treatment of a closed head wound and was listed in critical condition.
The boy is on a ventilator with bleeding on his brain at Children’s Hospital.
NORTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Yetsick remained in the Allegheny County Jail on Monday.
