Injured Plum Football Player Expected To Be Released From Hospital

PLUM, Pa.,None — A Plum High School football player was flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh on Wednesday after suffering an injury during practice.

According to initial reports, the player was knocked out after a hit to the head. Channel 11 News has learned that the player regained consciousness about a minute later, but had complained of numbness in his arms and legs.

The principal at Plum High school said the 9th grader was getting ready for a scrimmage when the accident happened.

At last check, the principal said the boy had feeling in all of his extremities and remained at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Wednesday night for testing. The principal said the boy did not suffer a spinal injury, but did jam his neck.

The boy was expected to be released from the hospital on Thursday.

After the injury, practice was suspended. The coach of the team said a Wednesday afternoon practice was held as scheduled.
