Iron Maiden starts world tour with lead singer piloting their Boeing 747-400

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — British heavy metal band Iron Maiden has launched a new world tour in a big way.

Bruce Dickinson, the band's lead singer, will be piloting the massive Boeing 747-400 jet.  They've named the jet "Ed Force One" in honor of the band's zombie mascot, Eddie, whose face is emblazoned on the jet's tail.  Dickinson has actually worked as a commercial airline pilot before and the band says using the big jet gives them the freight and passenger capacity they need for the worldwide tour.  Ed Force One touched down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past weekend.  The first concert is scheduled for February 24th.
